Boys To Manhood
Nurturing responsible men one boy at a time, the aim of the Boys To Manhood program is to encourage boys at-risk of violent encounters, academic failure and negative behaviors to adopt positive self-awareness and ultimately academic and life success. Structured as a class elective, the program pairs role models from HBCU's in Atlanta, as mentors and teachers, with middle school-aged boys. The program also includes off-site bonding activities. Slam Dunk
When Shoot The Hoop (STH) needed to score big this spring on Capitol Hill, they sent the all-star players. Cynthia Bolling, 11, a sixth grader from Sammye E. Coan Middle School, accompanied STH President Frankie Blake, to Washington, D.C., as part of the Afterschool For All Challenge sponsored by the Afterschool Alliance, a program which raises awareness for afterschool efforts throughout the country.
Summer Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Robotic Camp
Focusing on the development and strengthening of student skills and competencies in Language Arts and Mathematics, the objective of the eight-week summer camp is to prepare students to successfully complete the Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT). Read more
